Massimo Baroncini

Massimo Baroncini is an Associate Professor at the University of Bologna's Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Technologies (DISTAL). His research focuses on Organic Physical Chemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry, particularly the design, synthesis, and characterization of molecules with complex topology, photoactivated systems, and nanostructured materials. He also collaborates with the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (CNR-ISOF) in Bologna.

Education: Graduated cum laude in Chemistry (University of Bologna, 2006), with thesis work at UCLA on dendrimers. PhD in Chemical Sciences (2010), supervised by Prof. Margherita Venturi. He has held research roles at the Department of Chemistry 'G. Ciamician' since 2010.

Research interests include light-driven molecular machines, supramolecular systems, and photochemical energy conversion. Over 60 peer-reviewed articles, 3 reviews, 6 book chapters, and a monograph. Awards include the Serena Maurizi Award (2010), Springer-Verlag Theses Award (2011), and Reaxys SCI Young Researcher Award (2015).

Collaborations and labs: Active in CNR-ISOF and the Ciamician Department. Research emphasizes molecular pumps, azobenzene-based systems, and nanomaterials for biomedical and environmental applications.
