Dr. Mascha Hansen is a University lecturer in Anglophone Literatures at the University of Greifswald's Department of British and North American Studies, specializing in primary school teacher training. She holds an M.A. and PhD from WWU Münster, where her doctoral work focused on Frances Burney and the female Bildungsroman. Since 2005, she has been affiliated with Greifswald, initially as a researcher and since 2021 in her current teaching role.
Education:
- 1993-2000: Studies in English, History, and Philosophy at WWU Münster
- 1995-1996: Visiting student at UEA Norwich (DAAD scholarship)
- 1997-1998: Visiting student at University of Sheffield (WWU scholarship)
- 2000-2003: PhD at WWU Münster
Research Focus: Eighteenth-century women writers, sociability studies (including the EU-H2020 Digitens project), and women's epistolary culture. Current projects include a digital edition of Queen Charlotte's international letters and modern translations of historical poems at onegreyorange.de.
Teaching: Anglophone literature from 16th to 21st century, child/youth literature. Her work bridges literary analysis with educational practice for primary school curricula.
Grants & Collaboration: Led/co-edited volumes on British sociability in the European Enlightenment (2021). Active in transnational research networks, including the EU-funded Digitens initiative exploring eighteenth-century cross-border intellectual exchanges.
