Albert J. Rivero is the Louise Edna Goeden Professor of English at Marquette University's Klingler College of Arts & Sciences, specializing in Restoration and Eighteenth-Century British literature. He earned his A.B. summa cum laude from Princeton University and M.A./Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, with additional study as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of London.
His research focuses on 18th-century authors including Samuel Richardson, Daniel Defoe, Jonathan Swift, Henry Fielding, Frances Burney, and Jane Austen. He is a leading textual scholar who has edited major Norton Critical Editions of Gulliver's Travels and Moll Flanders, and Pamela novels for Cambridge University Press.
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on textual criticism, critical editing, and historical-contextual analysis of 18th-century novels. Current projects include new editions of Richardson's Pamela novels for Broadview Press and co-editing Frances Burney in Context for Cambridge University Press.
