Dr. Maryline (Mary) Jones is an Associate Professor of Biology at Lyon College, where she has taught since 2016. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Montpellier 2 (2012) and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Portsmouth (2012-2014) and the University of Arkansas (2014-2016). Her research focuses on osmoregulation in aquatic organisms, anthropogenic pollutants' effects on aquatic physiology, and neuroendocrine disruption in crustaceans.
- Education: Ph.D. in Biology, University of Montpellier 2 (2012); M.Sc. in Marine Biology, Center of Oceanology of Marseilles (2009); B.Sc. in Physiology/Bioengineering, University of Provence (2006)
- Research Interests: Osmoregulation mechanisms, environmental toxicology, fish physiology, endocrine disruption, and pollutant impacts on aquatic organisms
Her work integrates molecular, cellular, and organismal approaches, with publications in journals like General and Comparative Endocrinology and Aquatic Toxicology. She collaborates on grants including an INBRE Competitive Instrumentation Grant ($20,000) and a Li-COR SURG Grant ($17,100) for lab equipment.
Dr. Jones advises Lyon's biological research courses and maintains aquatic tanks in the Derby Center. She also fosters dogs and contributes to institutional assessment committees.
