Maryanne Loughry is a Part-Time Lecturer at Boston College and a Research Associate at the Refugee Studies Centre, University of Oxford. She is a Sister of Mercy and a Senior Researcher within the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG). Her expertise spans unaccompanied minors, environmental justice, and psychosocial impacts on displaced populations.

Her research focuses on the mental health and trauma of immigrants and refugees, global practice frameworks, and climate-induced displacement in the Pacific. She has conducted humanitarian training and evaluations across Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East, and South East Asia.
Selected publications highlight her work on age assessment challenges for unaccompanied minors, psychosocial wellbeing in refugee camps versus urban settings, and ethical approaches to migration. Her contributions intersect psychology, theology, and public policy.
She serves on the Governing Committee of the International Catholic Migration Committee (ICMC) and advises the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law and Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness. She is affiliated with Campion Hall, University of Oxford.
