Maryam Ebrahimi

Dr. Maryam Ebrahimi is an Assistant Professor at Lakehead University, holding a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Low-Dimensional Nanomaterials. She is affiliated with the Department of Chemistry and serves as an Adjunct Professor in Physics.

• PhD in Physical Chemistry (Surface Science), University of Waterloo (2009)

Her research focuses on the rational design and atomic-scale characterization of low-dimensional nanomaterials, including:

• On-surface synthesis of 1D/2D polymers and quantum materials
• Self-assembled molecular networks
• Templated catalysts and reaction kinetics
• Integration of experimental techniques (STM, AFM, XPS, LEED) and theoretical simulations (DFT, NEB, MD)

Her recent work includes studies on moiré patterns in molecular self-assembly systems. Funding sources include NSERC, CFI-JELF, CRC Program, and Compute Canada.
