Mary Russell serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition within the College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University. A registered dietitian nutritionist with over 40 years of professional experience, she retired from full-time work in December 2020 but remains actively engaged as adjunct faculty. Her prior career included leadership roles as Director of Nutrition Services at two academic medical centers, Nutrition Support Dietitian, Clinical Dietitian, and Medical Science Liaison for Baxter Healthcare.
Her academic credentials include:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Marquette University
- Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Her expertise spans Nutrition, Dietetics, and Clinical Nutrition with specialized focus on Nutrition Support, Disability Nutrition, and Ethics in Dietetics. She has dedicated decades to advancing the field through clinical practice, leadership in professional organizations, and mentorship.
Her distinguished honors comprise:

- Fellow of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (FASPEN)

Dr. Russell served as Academy President during 2018-2019 and currently contributes through the Nominating and Political Action Committees. She actively mentors students, delivers lectures on ethics and civility, and volunteers for community initiatives including food pantry operations and seed gathering for the Dane County park system.
