Dr. Mary Nakamura is Professor of Medicine at UCSF and Staff Rheumatologist at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Her research investigates innate immune regulation of bone turnover (osteoimmunology), macrophage roles in tissue repair, and rheumatoid arthritis pathogenesis.
She directs PREMIER, an NIH-funded Precision Medicine Center advancing rheumatology research through clinical informatics and molecular phenotyping. Honors include the Presidential Early Career Award and Henry Kunkel Young Investigator Award. Recent publications analyze single-cell profiles in autoimmune disease and age-impaired fracture healing.
With over 30 years' experience, she mentors physician-scientists and leads studies on immune aging's impact on bone and brain regeneration.
