Dr. Daniel Clark is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds a DDS from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and a PhD from UCSF. His research focuses on osteoimmunological mechanisms of bone regeneration, age-related inflammatory dysregulation, and macrophage activity in periodontal disease. He has received NIH funding and awards from dental and basic science organizations.
Key research areas include understanding how macrophages regulate inflammation in bone diseases and aging-related inflammation's impact on healing. His laboratory uses animal models and advanced techniques like RNAseq. He has published extensively on fracture healing, periodontal disease mechanisms, and aging's effects on musculoskeletal systems.
Dr. Clark's work bridges clinical dentistry and basic science, addressing translational challenges in bone regeneration and aging-related conditions. Recent publications emphasize macrophage subpopulations in fracture healing and periostin's role in aging mice models.
