Mary Jo Festle is a full-time Professor at Elon University, where she has served for three decades since 1993. She has held leadership roles as Director of the Honors Program, Associate Director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, and Coordinator of the Women's, Gender & Sexualities Studies Program.
- Bachelor's degree from Knox College
- Master's and Doctorate in History from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Her research and teaching focus on history, gender studies, inclusive pedagogy, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She has developed 19 courses, including innovative seminars on 'Race, Gender and Sports in the U.S.' and 'History of Gender and Sexuality in the U.S.'
Her publications, including three books, demonstrate interdisciplinary impact in education and social sciences. Colleagues highlight her strategic leadership in inclusion initiatives and her self-sacrificial commitment to student flourishing.
