Mary English

Mary English is a full-time Professor and current Chair of the Department of Classics and General Humanities at Montclair State University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from Boston University and has dedicated her career to classical studies.

Her research focuses on Greek drama and its reinterpretation through modern American theater, while also making significant contributions to Latin pedagogy through authorship of key educational materials. Her 2015 publication A New Latin Primer (Oxford University Press) demonstrates her commitment to classical language instruction.
