Jerise Fogel

Dr. Jerise Fogel is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Classics & General Humanities Department at Montclair State University, affiliated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She has held this position since 2006 and teaches courses on Greek/Roman civilization, gender studies in antiquity, and Latin language. Her academic journey includes degrees from Smith College and Columbia University, with additional study at Somerville College, Oxford.

Her research focuses on Greek/Roman rhetoric, late Republican history, LGBTQ+ studies in classical contexts, and ancient theater production. She recently directed Greek plays (Antigone, Bacchae) emphasizing choral performance. Awards include a Mellon Fellowship and DAAD grant. She has taught at institutions like University of Illinois, Gettysburg College, and Marshall University.
