Mary Cox is an Assistant Professor of Journalism in the Department of Communications and Journalism at Webster University's School of Communications, based at the St. Louis Main Campus. She serves as advisor to The Galaxy, Webster University's student radio station, and previously chaired the Publications Board overseeing the nationally award-winning student newspaper and website The Journal.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Lindenwood University and an MS in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University.
Professor Cox specializes in Digital Journalism, Social Media Applications for Newsrooms, and Modern News Production Techniques. Her teaching integrates two decades of frontline television news experience across major U.S. markets, with emphasis on adapting storytelling and reporting methods for digital platforms. She actively researches the intersection of traditional journalism and emerging media technologies.
