Mary Burgoyne

Dr Mary Burgoyne serves as a Visiting Fellow at the St Mary’s University Centre for Joseph Conrad Studies. Her scholarly activities focus on textual scholarship and literary bibliography, particularly regarding the works of Joseph Conrad and his contemporaries.

Dr Burgoyne’s editorial projects include co-editing the forthcoming The Letters of Jessie Conrad (Cambridge University Press) and the updated Joseph Conrad: A Bibliography. She has contributed to critical editions like Joseph Conrad: Contemporary Reviews and Last Essays, demonstrating her expertise in Conradian textual studies and historical contextualization.

Her research outputs examine Conrad’s engagement with anarchism, media representations, and publishing history, notably through articles such as 'Conrad Among the Anarchists' (2007) and '‘Writing Man to Fighting Man’' (2013). Dr Burgoyne has also been recognized with the Seal of the Committee on Scholarly Editions from the Modern Language Association of America for her editorial work.
