Dr. Kim Salmons is the Head of the School of Liberal and Creative Arts and an Associate Professor in Modern Literature at St Mary's University. She holds a PhD from the University of Surrey (2015) and has authored/co-edited works on food in the novels of Joseph Conrad and Thomas Hardy. Her research explores food's role in migration, transnationalism, and faith, with a focus on Conrad's Catholic heritage. She co-directs the Conrad Study Centre and organizes events like the Festival of the Arts and Humanities and the Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival. Awards include the Horace Walpole Prize (2011) and the Early Career Research Prize (2013). She teaches English Literature and Liberal Arts, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and student welfare. Recent research investigates Conrad’s religious influences and food as a marker of cultural identity.
