Mary Brennan

Mary Brennan is a Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the DNP Program and the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Program at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She plays a key role in shaping advanced nursing education through curriculum innovation, simulation-based learning, and interprofessional collaboration.

Her research and teaching focus on nursing education, acute and geriatric care, interprofessional simulation, quality improvement, and global health. She has developed a virtual hospital simulation platform and led international initiatives in Tanzania and Sierra Leone to improve patient safety. Her work emphasizes clinical decision-making, sepsis management, hypertension, and oral-systemic health.

Her recent publications span topics including geriatric mobility, perinatal palliative care simulation, sepsis reassessment, interprofessional education, and pediatric resuscitation training. These reflect a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, innovative pedagogy, and health equity.

Brennan actively mentors DNP students and leads quality improvement projects. She serves on the simulation committee of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty (NONPF) and is part of the Cochrane Oral Health Group. She collaborates with the Silver School of Social Work and Long Island University College of Pharmacy to advance interprofessional training.

She leads a culture of safety initiative in Sierra Leone with Xiangya Hospital, China, and previously worked in Ghana training nurses in pediatric resuscitation. Her lab or team is centered around simulation innovation and curriculum development at NYU Meyers.
