Dr. Mary Baldridge is a Professor of Foreign Languages and Chair of the Philosophy, Linguistics, and World Languages department at Carson-Newman University. She specializes in teaching Spanish language, literature, and culture courses. Her academic career includes roles as an Associate Professor and departmental leadership.
Dr. Baldridge holds a BA in Spanish from Berea College, an MS in Communications from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and both an MA and PhD in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, with a focus on Medieval Women’s Literature.
Her research centers on medieval women and religion, particularly their contributions to conventual religious literature. She is currently authoring a book on four medieval Spanish women and their literary works within conventual contexts.
Dr. Baldridge’s scholarly focus bridges historical analysis and gender studies, emphasizing underrepresented voices in medieval religious texts.
