Ryan Baldridge is an Assistant Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan Medical School. He leads the Baldridge Lab, which focuses on protein quality control mechanisms at cellular membranes. His research spans multiple programs including the Chemical Biology Program, Cellular and Molecular Biology Program, and the Protein Folding Diseases Initiative at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Baldridge's research focuses on the fundamental mechanisms of integral membrane protein quality control systems, particularly endoplasmic reticulum associated degradation (ERAD). His lab studies how these systems recognize misfolded proteins and targets them for degradation, using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a primary model system with complementary work in mammalian tissue culture.
