Martina Ospelt is a Researcher and PhD candidate at the University of Lucerne's Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine. She works under Prof. Gisela Michel and specializes in understanding the societal and psychological challenges faced by childhood cancer survivors and their families. Her current doctoral project focuses on insurance, legal, and financial issues following childhood cancer treatment, examining perspectives of parents, survivors, and experts.
Education: Ospelt holds a Master’s degree in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine from the University of Bern, with additional specializations in Social Neuroscience and Social Psychology. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (minor: Business Administration) from the same university. Her academic journey includes research internships in sleep medicine and clinical psychology.
Research Interests: Her work bridges psychological variables in healthcare applications, rehabilitation strategies for neurorehabilitation (e.g., post-stroke aphasia), and systemic barriers in healthcare access post-childhood cancer. She integrates behavioral and social science methodologies to address clinical and societal challenges in health management.
Labs/Teams: Ospelt contributes to the University Research Centre: Health and Society, particularly within the LIFE research initiative. She participates in the LIFE-Forum Rehabilitation and related interdisciplinary projects exploring health outcomes and societal integration.
