Martina Brophy is a researcher and lecturer in the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), within the College of Business. Previously, she served as a research assistant and student at the DCU National Centre for Family Business (NCFB) from 2014 to 2020. She completed her MPhil thesis titled "The gendered identity work of women leaders in family business" in 2020, supervised by Dr. Eric Clinton and Prof. Maura McAdam.
Her research focuses on minority entrepreneurship, family business dynamics, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Her work has been published in journals such as the International Small Business Journal, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, and the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She has presented her findings at conferences including the Irish Academy of Management Conference, the DIANA International Conference, and the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference.
Brophy’s academic contributions highlight gendered leadership in family businesses and entrepreneurial challenges in underserved communities. Her engagement with both academic and practitioner audiences underscores her commitment to advancing entrepreneurship research and education.
