Dr. Catherine Faherty is an Assistant Professor of Enterprise at Dublin City University’s DCU Business School and co-founder/Associate Director of the National Centre for Family Business (NCFB). Her research focuses on trust dynamics, succession planning, and innovation in family-owned enterprises. A former Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholar, she holds a doctoral degree from DCU under Prof. Eric Clinton, with visiting research fellowships at Northwestern University (USA) and the Kellogg Center for Family Enterprises. Her work has been recognized with the Frederic M. Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award and listed as runner-up for the Grigor McClelland Award.
Her academic contributions include seminal studies on family firm resilience during crises, gender dynamics in family CEO roles, and the interplay between psychological capital and innovation. She has published in top-tier journals like Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and International Journal of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, while actively promoting practitioner-oriented research to address real-world challenges in family businesses.
