Martin Uhrmacher is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities within the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at the University of Luxembourg. He has been teaching and researching since the university's foundation in 2003 and was appointed to his current role in July 2018.
- Education: Magister Artium with Distinction (University of Trier, 1998), Dr. phil. summa cum laude (University of Trier, 2007)
His research focuses on historical regional studies of Luxembourg, the Greater Region, and the Rhineland, with specific emphasis on urban history, social and economic history, historical cartography, and the history of epidemics. He has led significant projects like Histoire des villes luxembourgeoises (2010-2019) and developed Luxatlas.lu, a digital historical atlas of Luxembourg City. His work also includes editing medieval account books of Luxembourg City.
Scientific awards and recognitions include:
- Hans-Richard-Winz-Preis (2006) for leprosy history research
- Publication Grant from Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg (2011)
He holds leadership roles in multiple academic organizations and contributes to doctoral education through Scientific Boards for Digital History programs.
