Research Interests span water resources, contaminant transport in groundwater, carbon sequestration, and paleoclimate, with a focus on environmental isotopes and mathematical modeling. His work bridges hydrology and climate change mitigation, particularly in unconventional gas production and social/economic impacts of environmental change.
Publications highlight innovations in noble gas tracers for groundwater dating, arsenic contamination in Bangladesh, and carbon mineralization in basalt. Projects include the LDEO Environmental Tracer Group, Carbfix carbon storage initiative, and Big Sky CCUS Partnership.
Teaching includes courses like Hydrology, Workshop in Sustainable Development, and the Senior Thesis Seminar. He also led a Senior Research Seminar fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between Barnard and Columbia students.
Community Engagement includes volunteering for the South Bronx Unite urban heat-mapping project, analyzing heat islands and their disproportionate impact on marginalized communities.
