Professor Martin Stokes is the King Edward Professor of Music at King's College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and the Department of Music. He holds a dual role in Music and Anthropology. Previously, he taught at Queen's University of Belfast (1989–1997), the University of Chicago (1997–2007), and Oxford University (2007–2012). His research focuses on modern Turkey and Egypt, with broader interests in the Mediterranean, globalization, ethnicity, religion, and music's role in cultural identity.
