Prof. Martin Siegert is a Visiting Professor at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and Climate Research within Imperial College London's Faculty of Natural Sciences. He serves as Co-Director of the Grantham Institute since 2014 and holds Honorary Professorships at the University of Edinburgh and a Visiting Professorship at the Bristol Glaciology Centre, Bristol University. His research focuses on physical geography, geophysics, and Antarctic climate dynamics, including subglacial lake exploration and glaciology.
He led the UK-NERC funded Lake Ellsworth Consortium, designing experiments to explore subglacial lakes in West Antarctica. His fieldwork involves geophysical measurements of subglacial landscapes to understand past Antarctic environmental changes. Awards include the 2013 Martha T. Muse Prize and Royal Society of Edinburgh Fellowship (2007).
Prof. Siegert’s work bridges geoscience, climate science, and environmental policy, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding Earth’s systems. His affiliations include the Grantham Institute, Department of Earth Science and Engineering, and the Marine and Coastal Environments research group.
