Dr. Martin Quirke is a Lecturer in Dementia, Ageing & Design within the Centre for Environment, Dementia, and Ageing Research at the University of Stirling. He also serves as a senior design consultant at the University's multidisciplinary Dementia Services Development Centre, providing international consultancy services focused on evidence-based environmental design for aging and cognitive health.
His research focuses on environmental design evaluation and co-design processes, with particular interest in creative and technology-supported methods for involving people with physical, sensory, or cognitive impairments in environmental assessment and design. Dr. Quirke aims to support diverse groups in contributing their expertise to create better home, community, and neighborhood environments that promote cognitive wellbeing and independence.
Dr. Quirke is a Co-Investigator on the Designing Housing for Healthy Cognitive Ageing (DesHCA) research project, which seeks to identify scalable innovations in housing design to support longer and healthier lives for people experiencing cognitive change.

Dr. Quirke completed his PhD at the University of Newcastle Australia in 2019 with research titled "Building Design for People with Dementia: An Analysis of Planning Quality in Residential Aged Care Units." His doctoral work examined how building layouts impact the wellbeing of people with cognitive impairments.
