Professor Martin Phillips is affiliated with the School of Geography, Geology & The Environment at the University of Leicester. His research focuses on rural social and cultural geography, society/environment relations, historical geography, and philosophy and social theory in geography.

He is currently a member of the Programme Coordination Team of the UKRI Landscape Decision Team, investigating rural land use changes and their impacts on landscape and belonging. His work also explores heritage, knowledge sociologies, and affective community dimensions.
