Martin Levine is a Professor in the Department of Art at Stony Brook University, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He specializes in Printmaking, Etching, Lithography, and Drawing, with a focus on aquatint techniques. His work is exhibited globally and held in major collections like the Victoria and Albert Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Library of Congress. Levine has received over 120 awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and was elected to the National Academy of Design. He previously served as President of the Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA).
Education: M.F.A., California College of Arts and Crafts.
Research interests include experimental printmaking techniques and their application in contemporary art. His work explores themes of texture, layering, and interdisciplinary approaches to graphic arts.
He has been an invited juror for international exhibitions, including those in the UK, Bulgaria, Poland, and Yugoslavia. His professional activities also include leadership roles in artistic organizations.
