Lorena Salcedo-Watson is a Professor in the Department of Art at Stony Brook University, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.F.A. from Cooper Union and an M.F.A. from Stony Brook University. Her research focuses on large-scale drawings and prints exploring the structural and essential qualities of life forms through the lens of human anatomy, botany, and entomology. She has extensive professional experience as a master printer and collaborator at Universal Limited Art Editions (U.L.A.E.), where she developed projects using diverse printmaking techniques.

Research interests emphasize transforming natural elements into artistic interpretations through observation and imagination. Her work spans traditional and unconventional printmaking methods, including intaglio, lithography, and multimedia projects like limited edition books and 3D prints. She has collaborated with renowned artists such as Elizabeth Murray, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg.
Teaching and Professional Roles:
- Program Manager at Gallery North’s Studio, teaching non-toxic printmaking and papermaking
- Facilitated mentorship programs for MFA students
