Martin J. Davies is a Professor of Maritime Law at Tulane Law School and holds the Niels F. Johnsen Chair in Maritime Law. He serves as Director of the Maritime Law Center and has taught internationally in Australia, Azerbaijan, China, England, Singapore, and Italy. His expertise spans admiralty law, maritime law, and transnational legal frameworks.

Professional Roles: He is a Titulary Member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) and has served on editorial boards for Lloyd’s Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly, Journal of Maritime Law and Commerce, and other international journals. With over 35 years as a maritime law consultant, he advises an international law firm on global maritime practices.
