Professor Martin Davies holds the Niels F. Johnsen Chair in Maritime Law and directs the Tulane Maritime Law Center at Tulane University. Previously, he was the Harrison Moore Professor of Law at the University of Melbourne. His expertise spans Admiralty Law, International Trade Law, Conflict of Laws, and Torts. He has taught globally and serves on editorial boards of major journals. Awards include multiple Felix Frankfurter Teaching Awards and the Tulane President’s Award. His research focuses on maritime liability, international arbitration, and transnational litigation.
Education: DCL (Oxford, 2022), LLM (Harvard, 1980), BCL & BA (Oxford, 1979). Professional roles include Senior Consultant at Clyde & Co and arbitrator with the International Center for Dispute Resolution. Key contributions include seminal works like NYGH’S CONFLICT OF LAWS IN AUSTRALIA and SHIPPING LAW.
