Martha Davis is the University Distinguished Professor of Law and affiliated faculty in the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Northeastern University’s School of Law. She teaches Constitutional Law, US Human Rights Advocacy, and Professional Responsibility. As faculty director of the Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy and the NuLawLab, her work focuses on integrating human rights into legal practice and education. Davis holds a JD from the University of Chicago, an MA from Trinity College (Oxford University), and an AB from Harvard University.
Her research emphasizes human rights, women’s rights, and social justice, particularly in areas like water equity, municipal policies, and reproductive rights post-Dobbs. She has held distinguished roles including the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Human Rights at Lund University and remains an affiliated scholar with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute. Her work with organizations like WaterLex further underscores her commitment to global advocacy.
Davis’ recent publications analyze water affordability, transnational human rights frameworks, and the impact of local policies on marginalized communities. Her articles often bridge legal theory with practical advocacy, highlighting systemic inequities in access to essential services and rights.
