معرفی
Marte Sodeland is an Associate Professor at the University of Agder's Department of Natural Sciences, specializing in evolutionary genomics and biodiversity research. Her work focuses on how human and ecological factors drive genomic evolution in wild and domesticated species, with a particular emphasis on genome architecture as a driver in evolutionary processes.
- Education: Master's at NTNU, PhD at CIGENE (NMBU) in 2010.
- Postdoctoral: CIGENE/NMBU, IMR Flødevigen, and CCR (UiA).
- Current Roles: Researcher and advisor at Centre for Coastal Research (UiA/IMR/NIVA), since 2019 Assistant Chair of CCR, and leads outreach project 'Skagerrak Science and Solutions Sail.'
Her research spans marine species like Atlantic cod and sea trout, agricultural species like Norwegian Red cattle, and conservation genomics. She develops molecular methods for biodiversity characterization and has contributed to understanding chromosomal rearrangements in cod ecotypes. Recent publications focus on genetic monitoring of marine species, conservation strategies, and genomic divergence mechanisms.
Her work integrates population genomics with ecological modeling, particularly in the Skagerrak region, and addresses the limitations of conservation frameworks like the IUCN Red List in accounting for intraspecific diversity. Collaborative projects include studies on blue mussel connectivity, cod supergene stability, and milk production genetics.
