Markus Menz is a Full Professor of Strategic Management and former Dean (2021–2025) at the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), University of Geneva. He previously served as Vice Dean for Development (2017–2021) and implemented the 'Geneva Advantage' strategy, securing AACSB accreditation and redeveloping executive education programs. Prior to Geneva, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of St. Gallen (2009–2015), where he received the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching. His research focuses on strategic leadership, corporate governance, and organization design, examining roles like Chief Strategy Officers and Board Chairs. He founded the Geneva Center for Corporate Governance in 2020 to promote evidence-based governance practices.
Education: Ph.D. (summa cum laude), Habilitation, and M.A. from the University of St. Gallen. He also spent time as a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University. His work appears in top journals like Academy of Management Annals, Strategic Management Journal, and Harvard Business Review.
Research Interests: Senior leadership roles, corporate strategy formulation, organizational structure optimization, and the impact of digital technologies and sustainability on corporate governance. He collaborates with diverse industries, from startups to multinationals.
Awards: Multiple distinctions from the Swiss National Science Foundation, Credit Suisse Teaching Award, and editorial roles in journals such as Long Range Planning and Journal of Management.
Teaching & Leadership: Developed programs like the Executive MBA and Master’s in Management. Serves as an advisor, board member, and keynote speaker, emphasizing responsible leadership education.
