معرفی
Mark Wood is an Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry at the Biosciences department of the University of Exeter, specializing in asymmetric synthesis and radical-based methodologies for creating complex nitrogen-containing molecules. His work includes the development of 1,5-hydrogen atom transfer processes for stereoselective synthesis and the application of structurally unusual heterocycles as masked isocyanates. He has contributed to collaborative research on photoinitiated Bergman cyclization reactions and teaches across all levels of organic chemistry.
- Education:
- DPhil in Organic Chemistry, University of Oxford (1990)
- MA in Chemistry, Balliol College, University of Oxford (1989)
- BA (Hons) in Chemistry, Balliol College, University of Oxford (1986)
His research interests span asymmetric synthesis of quaternary chiral center amino acids, heterocycle reactivity, and radical chemistry for drug discovery. He also investigates physical properties of heterocycles, such as acidity, and collaborates on spectroscopic studies of enediyne antibiotics. Teaching focuses on organic chemistry fundamentals and advanced synthesis.
Mark has held positions at the University of Exeter since 1996, including Lecturer (1996–2005), Senior Lecturer (2007–2022), and Associate Professor (2022–present). Previously, he was a Tutor at St Catherine's College, University of Oxford. No scientific awards or publications are listed in the provided text.
