Peter Wyatt

Peter Wyatt serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London.

With over 20 years of research experience in organic synthesis, Dr. Wyatt specializes in creating analogues of biologically important molecules including unusual amino acids, plant polyphenols, carbohydrates, and phosphonic acid derivatives. His current research focuses on structure-activity studies of synthetic polyphenols for heart disease protection, light-emitting lanthanide complexes using fluorine-containing ligands, reactions of amino acid derivatives with organometallics, alkynyl C-glycosides, and stereoselective phosphonate reactions.

Dr. Wyatt teaches multiple chemistry courses spanning undergraduate to postgraduate levels including Essential Skills for Chemists, Organic Synthesis, Bioorganic Chemistry, Advanced Analytical Chemistry, and Drug Design and Development. He also supervises Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry MSci Research Projects.

His laboratory work appears focused on synthetic organic chemistry applications in biomedical contexts, particularly exploring polyphenol derivatives for therapeutic potential and developing novel luminescent materials through metal-organic complexation.
