Mark Wheatley is Professor in Biochemical Pharmacology at Coventry University's Centre for Health and Life Sciences. His research focuses on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), including vasopressin receptors, calcitonin gene-related peptide receptors, and receptor activity-modifying proteins. He employs biochemical and pharmacological approaches to study membrane proteins and their interactions with lipids.
Research interests span receptor pharmacology, membrane protein biochemistry, and therapeutic development. His work investigates GPCR structure-function relationships using innovative platforms like SMA copolymers and SMALPs for systematic membrane protein studies.
Wheatley leads multiple research projects analyzing receptor signaling mechanisms and developing novel conjugates for therapeutic applications. His laboratory focuses on understanding molecular interactions in cardiovascular and neurological systems.
