Mark Watson is an Honorary Professor in the School of Education at the University of Queensland and holds a concurrent Professorship in the Department of Psychology at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. He is affiliated with the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa as a scientist. His research focuses on career development and counseling, particularly exploring cross-cultural and cross-national perspectives. Watson collaborates extensively with Dr. Mary McMahon on joint projects that enhance the rigor of career-related research designs.

Research interests include systemic approaches to career assessment, adult career counseling methodologies, and addressing 21st-century global challenges in career guidance. His publications emphasize practical frameworks such as the MSCI system and guidance for thesis planning in academia.
Watson serves on editorial/advisory boards for journals including the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance, and Indian Journal for Career and Livelihood Planning. He is not currently available for student supervision.
