Dr Debbie Du Preez is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director of Education and Student Experience (DESE) for the Economics Department within the Business School at the University of Exeter. Prior to this, she studied and worked at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (formerly University of Port Elizabeth) in South Africa, where she earned a Doctorate in Commerce. She has over two decades of teaching experience in South Africa and the UK, with a focus on student support and engagement initiatives.

Her research focuses on the Economics of education, Inclusive education, and Teacher and student wellbeing. She explores curriculum and pedagogy in economics and business, aligning her work with Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).
Debbie has led critical educational reforms, including the 'Buddy Up' scheme and development of academic personal tutoring resources. She also contributes to quality assurance through external examining, committee memberships, and professional education delivery.
