Shuaib Rahim is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at Rhodes University. He holds a BJuris from the University of Port Elizabeth, LLB from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, and an LLM in Corporate Law from the University of South Africa. His academic roles include teaching Law of Property, International Trade Law, and Competition Law, as well as guest lecturing at the Rhodes Business School.
Research focuses on corporate ethics, criminal liability, and human rights, with notable work on sexual orientation rights and co-authored human rights training manuals. He actively engages in civil society projects emphasizing sustainability, ethics, and corporate governance.
Rahim serves on multiple institutional bodies, including the Independent Electoral Board, NEDLAC Communal Property Association Task Team, and Rhodes University’s Disciplinary Boards. He previously contributed to the Jali Commission’s investigation into prison abuses and held leadership roles in Amnesty International, Rotary Clubs, and the Institute of Directors South Africa.
His professional appointments include serving as a Compensation Commissioner Assessor (2021–2026) and involvement in international projects like the Erasmus+ initiative on Sustainable Development Goals. Educational highlights include University Colours from Port Elizabeth for student activism and board roles in the Nelson Mandela University Alumni Association.
