معرفی
Dr. Mark Waltham is a Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine at Monash University, affiliated with Monash Health. His research focuses on cancer biology, with an emphasis on understanding molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression, drug resistance, and metastasis. He has contributed to studies on lymphoma, breast cancer, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plasticity. His work integrates genomic, proteomic, and clinical approaches to identify therapeutic targets and predict treatment responses.
Dr. Waltham’s research spans topics such as molecular correlates of response to BTK inhibitors in marginal zone lymphoma, epigenetic therapy for T-cell lymphoma, and EMT-driven chemoresistance in breast cancer. He collaborates with the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG) and employs advanced genomic tools, including shRNA screening and liquid biopsy analysis (e.g., cell-free DNA). His studies often utilize xenograft models and clinical trials to bridge basic science and translational medicine.
Key themes in his work include precision oncology, biomarker discovery, and understanding tumor heterogeneity. His research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reducing health inequities and advancing medical innovation.
