Mark Tatum is an Associate Professor at the McWhorter School of Building Science, Auburn University. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, complemented by a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. His teaching focuses on Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, Lean Construction methodologies, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS/drones) applications in construction. He actively participates in study abroad programs and oversees student competition teams in national/international events.
Research interests center on UAS integration in construction, with contributions to industry-relevant educational programs. He collaborates with the Industry Advisory Council to align curricula with evolving industry needs. Recent initiatives include resuming in-person student competitions post-pandemic and expanding global educational partnerships through study abroad programs.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on advanced construction technologies and project management. He has led Auburn’s participation in the Associated Schools of Construction student competitions, emphasizing practical skill development.
