Professor Mark Sleeman is an Adjunct Professor (Research) in the Department of Physiology at Monash University's Biomedicine Discovery Institute. He also holds adjunct roles at Murdoch University and Yale University. His research focuses on translating basic science into therapeutic treatments for metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, obesity, lipid disorders, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Prior to academia, he spent 13 years at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals leading metabolic disease research, contributing to therapies now in Phase-III clinical trials for high cholesterol.
- Current affiliations: Monash University, Murdoch University, Yale University

Research interests include insulin resistance mechanisms, therapeutic antibody development, and bridging academic research with industry commercialization. He leads projects like the JDRF Strategic Research Agreement targeting type 1 diabetes via melanocortin pathways and anti-thrombotic agent development. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
Key collaborations involve clinical groups for disease mechanism studies and leveraging Monash's monoclonal antibody facilities. Ongoing projects address NASH inflammation and obesity-related liver dysfunction. His lab focuses on integrating genomic approaches with therapeutic discovery.
