Mark Naunton is a Professor of Pharmacy and Head of the Pharmacy Discipline at the University of Canberra. His career spans academic roles, locum pharmacy, management, and consultancy across Tasmania, NT, and ACT. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. Current affiliations include editorial board membership for the Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and roles as ARC assessor and reviewer for key pharmacy resources.
Research focuses on clinical pharmacy in aged care settings, medication safety, pharmacoeconomics, and pharmacy education innovation. He leads projects integrating pharmacists into aged care facilities and general practices, emphasizing quality use of medicines and interdisciplinary care models. Recent collaborations include transdisciplinary dementia care initiatives and scoping reviews on medical technologies like X-ray instrumentation.
Teaching expertise spans applied therapeutics, research methodology, and pharmacy practice. Over 160+ research outputs since 2000 highlight sustained contributions to medication safety, therapeutics, and healthcare quality improvement. Key projects (2012–2027) address pharmacist integration in aged care, scabies treatment in Aboriginal children, and gender balance in pharmacy organizations.
