Colin Curtain is a Lecturer in Pharmacy at the University of Tasmania's School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. He holds a PhD from the University of Tasmania focusing on clinical decision support in medication review software, and has extensive experience as a community pharmacist.
His research interests include aged care, clinical pharmacy practice, health informatics, and medication safety for older adults, particularly the prevention and detection of drug-related problems using information technology. Current projects investigate adverse drug reactions in elderly populations and interventions to reduce medication-related harm.
Dr. Curtain's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on medication safety in vulnerable populations, particularly elderly and dementia patients. His work shows strong translational research connecting pharmacy practice with clinical outcomes.
He teaches in the Graduate Certificate/Diploma and Master of Clinical Pharmacy programs and supervises doctoral students. His funded research includes the 'Preventing Adverse Drug Reactions in the Elderly' project examining risk stratification and communication strategies to reduce hospitalizations.
