Dr. Mark V Siracuse is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Sciences at Creighton University's School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. He holds advanced degrees including a BSPha from the University of Connecticut, a PharmD from the University of Michigan, and MS/PhD in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on pharmaceutical economics, patient safety, health information technology, and pharmacy practice management. Dr. Siracuse has led federally funded studies on health IT and patient safety through AHRQ grants and served on federal grant review panels. He is an AFPE Fellow and completed the AACOP Academic Leadership Fellows Program in 2012.
His teaching spans courses in healthcare systems, patient safety, and pharmacoeconomics. Notable professional roles include membership in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association Editorial Board and Creighton's Institutional Review Board. Dr. Siracuse has practiced in community pharmacies, home infusion therapy, and managed care settings. Key research projects include studies on pharmacist roles in diabetes management, electronic prescribing adoption in rural clinics, and influenza vaccination attitudes among university students.
Awards include the AACOP Scholarly Achievement Award and multiple fellowships in pharmacoeconomics. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and serves on research initiatives addressing healthcare quality and safety. His work bridges pharmacy education, policy, and clinical practice innovations.
