Mark L. Galatowitsch is the H.W. Stodghill, Jr. and Adele H. Stodghill Associate Professor of Biology at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. He joined the faculty in 2015 after completing his PhD in Ecology from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, an MS in Entomology from the University of Georgia, and a BS in Biology from Allegheny College.

Research Focus:
Galatowitsch investigates how aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates adapt to dynamic environments through field surveys, experiments, and population genetics. His work spans diverse ecosystems including New Zealand lakes, Georgia rivers, Costa Rican forests, and Central Kentucky streams, addressing ecological resilience, behavioral responses, and conservation implications under global change.
Teaching & International Engagement:
He teaches courses in Introductory Biology, Principles of Ecology, Entomology, Freshwater Ecology, and Biology Senior Seminar. Galatowitsch directs study abroad programs in New Zealand, Belize, and Mexico, including the Centre-in-Merida program (2019-2020), emphasizing experiential learning in varied ecological contexts.

Recipient of the Centre Scholar award in 2019 and 2022, recognizing exceptional scholarly contributions.
