Mark Knight is a Professor in Literature, Religion, and Victorian Studies, and Head of the Department of English and Creative Writing at Lancaster University. He previously taught at the University of Toronto and Roehampton University. His research focuses on Victorian literature and religion, postsecular theory, Victorian ghost stories, sensation fiction, and the works of authors like Dickens, Wilde, and Chesterton.
He has authored/co-authored influential books such as *Nineteenth-Century Religion and Literature* (Oxford UP, 2006) and *Good Words: Evangelicalism and the Victorian Novel* (Ohio State UP, 2019). Current projects include *Oscar Wilde: A New Testament* (under contract with Oxford UP) and *The Cambridge Companion to Religion in Victorian Literary Culture*. He also serves as General Editor of *Literature and Theology* and co-editor of the *New Directions in Religion and Literature* series (Bloomsbury).
Mark has supervised PhD students across multiple countries and co-directed NEH summer seminars on religion and the novel. His work bridges literary studies and theology, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to Victorian culture.
