Sean Grass is a Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of English at the University of Florida. He previously served at Texas Tech University, Iowa State University, and Rochester Institute of Technology (2020–2024 as Department Chair). His research focuses on Victorian literature, particularly Charles Dickens, literary markets, and autobiography. He has held leadership roles in the Charles Dickens Society and North American Victorian Studies Association (NAVSA).
Research interests include the commodification of identity in Victorian narratives, Dickens' enduring relevance, and 19th-century literary markets. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary interpretations, emphasizing how commercial forces shaped literary forms. Recent publications explore autobiography, sensation fiction, and Dickensian themes in modern contexts.
Publications reflect deep engagement with Victorian literary culture, combining historical analysis with interdisciplinary approaches. His NEH grants highlight scholarly impact. Editorial leadership includes roles at Dickens Quarterly and Dickens Studies Annual, alongside co-editing SUNY Press' History of Books series.
