Mark Jenner is a Professor of Early Modern History at the University of York, affiliated with the Department of History, the Centre for Renaissance and Early Modern Studies, and the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies. His research bridges social and cultural history, focusing on early modern Britain (1550-1780) and the social history of medicine. He contributes to editorial boards for Social History of Medicine and Urban History.
Mark's research spans interdisciplinary approaches, combining archival work with anthropology, literary studies, and social theory. Key areas include gender, medical identities, environmental regulation in London, and material culture. His recent projects involve collaborations with the Royal Society and Royal College of Physicians archives.
His publications emphasize urban health, sanitation, and print culture. Notably, his 2022 article on Griffin Flood explores crime narratives, while his 2018 work investigates London's public latrines.
